Added my emacs java tool collection in the [[projects]] area and a small site introduction/overview in [[welcome]].
A new version of the [[ftools]] is available. Some smaller changes to its formatting were made and support for logging tasks (using the standard java.util.logging api not log4j) was added. It is now possible to generate logging calls automatically. The homepage layout was changed and the versions section added to the ftools part. Also the initial project description of NitrO was edited.
Started the homepage. There is no meaningful content inside it, but this will change over time.

[[NitrO]] stands for ''~Non-Intrusive Time Reporting and Organization''. It is a tool suite for time reporting and organization and aims on mapping taks/todos onto time slots planned and afterwards tracked. Providing statistics and project management data is also a major goal of the [[NitrO]] tool suite. Repository and Wiki access to the [[NitrO]] related sub-projects can be found at http://trac2.assembla.com/nitro. It was originally derived from a student project in a //Software Engineering Requirements// lecture. One task we had to complete during this lecture, was to develop a project summary of time planning and tracking tool. The need for such a tool existed even as the lecture ended (implementation of the project was not planned). Since then the idea for such a tool has roamed the author and led eventually to [[NitrO]]. Since then, NitrO has evolved to provide a general solution to some programming tasks. It is constructed bottom-up to reflect the small team (currently I am developing it on my own) and its sub-projects are by far more mature than NitrO itself. !participation NitrO is currently not an ~OpenSource project. It might become one someday but currently it is not. The technology used is pretty basic, just ''java'' and ''SWING'' for the application itself. As stated above, I am currently developing NitrO on my own. This leads to slow project progress. Nowadays most people tend to use [[eclipse|http://www.eclipse.org]] as a java IDE. While eclipse is very useful for library browsing and building, its internal editor is horrible (again my opinion) to use, slow and ugly. Most people used to cursor movements by words/sentences or rectangle fills would agree. So my solution to the problem was to edit the source in an external editor, guess which, and then feed the changed files back to eclipse. This did work, but again I was missing some features, this time the ones provided by eclipse, e.g. getter/setter generation. I did some research work on the issue and stumbled across the [[JDEE|http://jdee.sourceforge.net/]]. This is a complete emacs mode written to produce an eclipse like behavior. It is a nice project, but didn't believe I would need all its capabilities, since I still used eclipse alongside my emacs source editing. This finally lead to the [[ftools]], a collection of lisp functions for java editing. It is very stripped down and does only contain what I needed repeatedly during my coding adventures. But it is fast. And if one gets used to it and the introduced conventions, it empowers one with the ability to produce working code at high velocity. However it still is not a complete mode, just an .el file which can be loaded via your .emacs file. To port it to an complete emcas mode is goal I have set for myself for the 1.0 version. It is licensed under the GNU public License (GPL v3) to make it available for everybody interested. Greetings and welcome to my student homepage. Let me introduce myself. My name is Felix Heinrichs and I'm currently studying computer science at the Technical University Darmstadt (from now on simply called ''TUD''); hopefully I will finish my studies this year. I work at an email marketing corporation named [[xqueue|http://www.xqueue.com]] in delivery management and tool production. My main interests in the vast field what is generally referred to as computer science, lie within the areas of * Software Engineering, mainly ** Software Architecture and Design ** Agile Project Management and Agile Development Processes ** Usability Engineering ** Requirement Engineering * Computer Graphics and Digital Imaging ** ~Real-Time Animation and Rendering Techniques ** Computer Game Development ;) To train my practical skills, I am also participating in some voluntary projects. Some of this projects I plan to release under ~OpenSource licenses. This page should be the starting point to make the smaller ones, i.e. the ones not needing a complete hosting like [[SourceForge|http://sourceforge.net]], available publicly. For an overview of the available projects see [[projects]]. !ftools [[ftools]] is a bunch of extension functions to the emacs text editor for java development. I use it for my java development and it serves me quite well. Anyone who is interested in using [[ftools]] can download it from its page. I really would appreciate any comments on its usability or desired/requested extensions.
